The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) announced on Thursday that it will not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, revealing plans to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, APGA National Chairman Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa explained the party’s decision to adopt a candidate from another party and addressed the recent amendments to the Electoral Act.
He noted that the introduction of direct primaries would eliminate the costly processes previously involved in selecting party candidates.
Ezeokenwa emphasized that APGA’s backing of Tinubu stems from the confidence he has shown in the party. “We believe that if he secures the APC nomination through direct primaries, APGA’s national convention will formally adopt him as our presidential candidate,” he stated.
