The People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State has reacted to Tuesday’s APC governorship campaign rally at the Tippers Park, Chokocho Etche.
In a press release today, the Director of Publicity and Communications of the PDP governorship campaign council, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke says those that attended the APC rally were impersonators.
“Those people who gathered at Chokocho on Tuesday were neither Etche indigenes nor Rivers people. They were assembled from neighboring states, paid to wear APC colours and brought to Etche to masquerade like Etche people.” he said.
Chief Ogbonna also alleged the APC were sharing something to the crowd. “Interestingly, the flagbearer of the APC, Tonye Cole said in a video which has gone viral that Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi who could not be found on stage was “sharing something.”
“What was Ephraim Nwuzi sharing? Money. Who was he sharing money to? Heirlings from other states that were brought to Etcheland to impersonate Etche people.” he said.
The PDP campaign Spokesperson reiterated that the PDP is widely accepted by Etche people and the people has moved on with the party and wary of those who made false promises to them.
“Rivers people know the truth about a party that promised them a deep Seaport, an Industrial railway park, a university of Transportation and a railway link to Maiduguri that were never delivered.
“Politics is not about misleading people and giving them false hope. It is about good governance and the act of delivering services that people can see.” he said.
He advised the Rivers APC governorship candidate to wake up and face the reality as Rivers people won’t entrust governance to those with the intent of selling off state assets.
