The Emeka Beke-led faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has expressed deep appreciation to Nigerians across religious and political divides for the overwhelming show of support for a former governor of the state during his 60th birthday celebrations.
In a statement issued at the conclusion of the weeklong festivities, which culminated in a dinner at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on Saturday, Spokesperson of the group, Darlington Nwauju thanked past and present leaders, for their physical presence and solidarity.
“On behalf of the APC Executive in Rivers State, we pray the good Lord bless and honour all attendees,” he said.
The group described the public outpouring as a demonstration that many Nigerians still recognise and appreciate honest leadership, even in the face of what it described as the current dominance of negative forces. It added that the support shown to the former governor sends a message to those in power that the public is observant and will ultimately judge their actions once they leave office.
