The All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified why Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who recently defected to the party, has not yet been formally received into its fold.
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, said the delay is deliberate and based on political scheduling and regional considerations, especially in the northern part of the country.
Speaking during an interview on TVC on Sunday, Yilwatda explained that the party is prioritising planned receptions in northern states ahead of the Ramadan period, noting that many communities there are sensitive to activities during the fasting season.
According to him, the party decided to complete its northern engagements first before moving to the southern region, where Ramadan-related constraints are less significant.
He stressed that the postponement of Fubara’s formal welcome is purely strategic and not a reflection of the governor’s standing or influence within the party.
Yilwatda added that the decision was made to respect regional sensitivities and ensure smooth political coordination across different parts of the country
