The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied claims that it directed the Chief Judge of Rivers State to comply with a court order barring him from receiving any impeachment notice from the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly in relation to the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the clarification while reacting to reports linking the APC to the ongoing impeachment process in the state.
Morka stated that the APC did not at any time instruct or influence the Chief Judge of Rivers State on how to act regarding the court order, stressing that the party has no role in the impeachment proceedings.
He further dismissed a statement allegedly issued by one Darlington Nwaju, clarifying that the individual does not speak for the Rivers State chapter of the APC and is not authorised to issue statements on behalf of the party.
According to Morka, the APC remains committed to due process and the rule of law, urging the public to disregard misinformation and unauthorised statements aimed at dragging the party into the political crisis in Rivers State.
The clarification comes amid heightened political tension in the state following developments surrounding the impeachment move against Governor Fubara.
