The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its Ward Congresses will not hold in Rivers State, citing the subsisting tenure of the current state executive committees of the party.
The decision was part of resolutions reached at the 183rd meeting of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
According to Publicity Secretary of the party Felix Morka, Osun State, Ekiti State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were also excluded from the scheduled congresses due to forthcoming elections in those areas.
The NWC further approved an extension of the party’s electronic membership registration exercise from January 31 to February 8, 2026. The extension, the committee said, followed requests from stakeholders and is aimed at allowing more members and supporters to register and validate their membership.
It was also resolved that Ward Congresses across eligible states will now hold on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, while the APC National Convention has been fixed for March 27 and 28, 2026.
In addition, the National Working Committee constituted the National Convention Planning Committee to oversee preparations for the convention.
The party noted that full details of the revised congress and convention timetable, as well as the composition of the National Convention Planning Committee, will be communicated at a later date.
