Despite warnings by the Rivers State Government for civil servants in the State not to join the proposed strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress, chairperson of the NLC in the state, Beatrice Itubo has said that anytime its National leadership calls for strike, they will join.
Itubo disclosed this in a statement shortly after the government warned civil servants in the state not to join the strike.
The NLC had in a statement said it would embark on a nationwide strike in solidarity with the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU.
However, Rivers State Head of Service, Rufus Godwin had called on civil servants in the State not to join the planned strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress.
He said the state-owned institutions are fully in academic session and have no business joining the strike.
He also said strict attendance will be taken tomorrow to monitor compliance as defaulters will be punished in accordance with the civil service rule.
