A young woman, Annie Miller, who recently drew public attention after posting images of a dilapidated school building in Ahoada, has denied claims circulating on social media that she was gifted a vehicle in connection with the matter.
In a statement made public, Miller described the reports as false and misleading, alleging that they were being spread to distract the public from supporting her call for justice regarding the condition of the school.
She stated that she has not received any vehicle or financial reward from any individual or organization over the issue.
According to her, the only support she received was a promise of an ambassadorship and scholarship from Azubuike Ihemeje, the Director of Portland Resort, who also reportedly gave her mother some money for medical treatment during a visit to the resort.
Miller further disclosed that ₦2.5 million was sent to her by the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area without her consent, but she rejected the money and refunded it, stating that accepting it would not reflect transparency or accountability.
The young activist also raised concerns about alleged threats to her safety, claiming she has received threatening phone calls and has been approached in person since the incident gained attention.
She specifically alleged that Cheta Epelle, whom she described as the younger brother of the local government chairman, has been frequently seen around her neighborhood since the issue began.
Miller called on security authorities, including the Commissioner of Police and the Department of State Services (DSS), to intervene and ensure her safety while also seeking justice over the matter.
She also appealed to individuals spreading what she described as false rumors to desist, stressing that she has not been gifted any car and that any support she receives will be made public.
“I was not gifted any car. Whatever I receive, I will make public because the public has been with me from day one on this matter,” she said.
Miller reiterated her appeal to the public and relevant authorities to come to her aid and ensure that justice is served.
