The Federal Government of Nigeria says it would soon create an armed unit of the Federal Fire Service.
Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, who made this known in a statement over the weekend said the unit will be called the “Fire Police.
Rauf, stated that their duty would be to provide armed outer cordon during operations by the service.
“The decision is part of efforts to address the challenges often faced by firefighters during operations, through mob action and vandalism of firefighting assets in the country,” he said.
