President General of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), Bright Amaewhule, has criticised the reception accorded to Governor Siminalayi Fubara at the Port Harcourt International Airport last week.
Speaking on Nigeria Info FM’s Morning CrossFire, Amaewhule, a staunch ally of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, argued that the governor should not have permitted such a gathering. He described the crowd of supporters as a show of hostility towards members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Amaewhule stressed that bridging the widening gap between Fubara’s supporters and Wike’s loyalists was necessary for the smooth running of the state. He urged the governor to initiate a meeting with leaders from the FCT Minister’s camp to foster reconciliation.
He further questioned why Fubara’s supporters did not extend the same gesture of welcome to members of the State Assembly, noting that such selective recognition only deepens political divisions.
