A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, says the resurgence of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, in Nigeria’s political scene is causing unrest among his political rivals.
Eze, in a statement issued Tuesday, said Amaechi’s active involvement in a growing coalition that is expected to transform into a new political party—All Democratic Alliance (ADA)—has unsettled the camp of President Bola Tinubu and his allies, especially those who had written off the former Rivers State Governor after the 2022 APC presidential primaries.
“Amaechi’s retreat after the heavily monetized and allegedly manipulated primaries showed his democratic maturity,” Eze noted, adding that the renewed activities of the former minister have sparked fear among political opponents who feel threatened by his grassroots influence.
According to him, those opposed to Amaechi are banking on federal power to frustrate the coalition’s momentum ahead of the 2027 general election, but warned that such hopes are baseless.
He also dismissed insinuations that Amaechi’s camp plans to be vindictive if victorious in 2027, insisting the former minister’s political philosophy is centered on service to Nigerians
