Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, has declared that he would serve only one term in office if given the opportunity to become Nigeria’s president.
Speaking during an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television, Amaechi said the decision stems from the need to respect the unwritten agreement on power rotation between the North and South.
He emphasized that while he is qualified to be president and possesses the capacity to lead, current political realities demand that he and others set aside personal ambitions to focus on building a strong opposition coalition.
Amaechi expressed confidence that the emerging coalition has the strength to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, describing the contest as one that will pit Tinubu, “the bandits,” and the Nigerian people against one another.
He also launched a scathing criticism of the Tinubu administration, arguing that the government of former President Muhammadu Buhari performed far better. He urged Nigerians to begin mobilizing to vote out the current administration in the next general election.
