Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has openly criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, declaring his frustration with the administration.
Speaking in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Amaechi, who is now a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said he was “tired” of Tinubu’s leadership, citing the rising cost of living and growing hardship faced by Nigerians.
“If you are not tired of President Tinubu, I am tired. If you are not hungry, I am hungry,” Amaechi stated, addressing a crowd of supporters who gathered to welcome him back to Rivers State. “If rich men are spending ₦4 million monthly on fuel, only God knows how the poor are surviving.”
He blamed the Tinubu-led government for the economic crisis, accusing the President of failing to prioritize the welfare of citizens. According to Amaechi, even affluent Nigerians are now grappling with the harsh realities of inflation and fuel costs.
“The President says he is not here to make you happy. The ADC is here to make you happy,” he added.
Amaechi, who previously served as Governor of Rivers State, questioned how ordinary Nigerians are expected to cope under the current economic pressures, warning that the hardship is affecting all social classes.
