The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi has slammed the National Assembly for Obstructing the government from accessing loans from China, due to the sovereignty clause.
The Minister, who disclosed this during a live TV interview on Monday, said the probe by the National Assembly had stopped funding for the Ibadan to Kaduna rail line.
Amaechi while answering questions on the construction of rail lines from Nigeria to Niger Republic, said he personally travelled to Niger, to beg them allow the Nigerian government construct the railway.
He said the rail line is expected to run from Kano to Dutse- Katsina through Jibia and will end at Maradi Niger Republic.
He also said following the construction of the rail lines, some persons had even accused him of serving northern interest.
“It is like the shout about Kano-Maradi rail. I said my wife is Igbo. She is not from Maradi. The worst is that they will say I am serving the interest of the North. Let’s assume that is the argument you will make. The worst I can do is stop at Jibia which is the border. To even get to Maradi, I had to travel to Niger Republic to even beg them,” he said
