Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi says the Chinese government has the right to take over assets built with funds borrowed from them. This is in the event of Nigerian failing to fulfill its loan obligations to China.
Amaechi made this known in a chat with journalists in Abuja during the inspection of Idu train station yesterday.
“What the Chinese normally do is that they go after the same asset to recover their money,” he said.
The minister noted that nothing is wrong with the agreement as it is the only way the ministry can get such huge amounts required for the construction of such massive projects.
