Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed reports suggesting he is being considered as a potential vice-presidential candidate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 elections.
The speculation emerged after Atiku’s ally, Dele Momodu, hinted that Amaechi might be an option if Peter Obi declines the slot. But in a statement issued by his media aide, David Iyofor, Amaechi said no such discussion has taken place, stressing that he is focused solely on pursuing his own presidential bid.
Iyofor added that Amaechi is seeking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket, insisting it is the turn of Southern Nigeria to produce the country’s next leader.
