Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that he neither supported nor voted for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections, citing concerns over capacity.
Amaechi made the statement during his 60th birthday lecture, which was attended by politicians, business leaders, clergy, and close associates. He disclosed that he met Tinubu in Yola and told him directly, “I will not work for you, and I will not vote for you because I am convinced that there is an issue of capacity.”
In a further critique of the current administration, Amaechi added, “We are all hungry. All of us are. If you are not hungry, I am.” He went on to suggest that the opposition has the power to unseat Tinubu, saying, “If you want us to remove the man in power, we can remove him.”
The comments have stirred political discourse, given Amaechi’s former prominence in the ruling party and his role in previous national campaigns.
