The face-off between organised labour and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) escalated on Thursday, February 26, 2026, as union members barricaded the agency’s Lagos office in protest over the alcohol sachet ban.
Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association (FOBTOB) blocked the entrance to NAFDAC’s office in Isolo as early as 7:00 a.m., chanting, “No work for us, no work for you.”
The protesters prevented staff from gaining access to the premises for nearly two hours, marking the seventh day of the ongoing standoff between the labour unions and the regulatory body.
Union leaders have vowed to sustain the protest until their demands are addressed, intensifying pressure on the agency amid growing tensions over the enforcement of the alcohol sachet ban.
Further details are expected as discussions continue.
