The Alaoji Power Plant in Abia State is scheduled to resume operations in August 2025, nearly two years after it went offline. The development is part of the federal government’s broader initiative to revive dormant power generation assets in a bid to improve electricity supply across the country.
With an installed capacity of 1,074 megawatts, the reactivation of the plant is expected to significantly bolster the national grid and ease the electricity shortages plaguing households and businesses nationwide.
Officials say the move reflects the government’s renewed commitment to addressing Nigeria’s longstanding power deficit and enhancing energy reliability across the country.
