Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has suggested he may defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), casting doubt on the opposition party’s viability ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking amid a wave of high-profile defections from the PDP, including that of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his supporters, Eno likened the PDP to a “spoilt plane” that may no longer be capable of carrying him to his political destination.
The governor warned that the party’s deep internal divisions could lead to its eventual collapse, fueling speculation about his political future.
