Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Council, Hon. Tonye Briggs Oniyide has inaugurated an investigation committee to thoroughly investigate and identify those responsible for the attack and looting of the council secretariat.
The committee was inaugurated at the Council Secretariat, on Thursday, October 24, 2024
The council in a statement said the committee’s primary objective is to;
1. Identify perpetrators and their motives.
Determine the extent of damage and losses, including:
– Value of stolen or damaged property
– Impact on Council operations and services
2. Gather and analyze evidence, including:
– Witness statements
– Documentary evidence
3. Identify responsible individuals/groups and recommend actions, including:
– Prosecution
– Recovery
4. Take any additional necessary steps to prevent future incidents.
The council said the essence of the investigation is to bring perpetrators to book, and help forestall future attacks.
The council chairman appealed to the public to provide relevant information to aid recovery of looted council Property.
