The Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Tonye Briggs Oniyide, has presented a ₦12.7 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year to the 10th Akuku-Toru Legislative Assembly. Tagged the “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development.”
The budget allocates ₦7.76 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦4.85 billion for capital projects. Funding is expected from federal allocations and other sources. Key priorities include electricity, security, education, infrastructure, and community events, including the Akuku-Toru festival (AKUFEST).
Mrs. Oniyide called for collaboration with the legislative arm to achieve goals in human capital development, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. The Leader of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Asheal Solomon Jack, commended the budget and promised speedy consideration.
