The Executive Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Tonye Briggs Oniyide, has announced the suspension of the current Interim Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Maritime Workers Union of Abonnema with immediate effect.
According to a statement from the council, the decision was made to ensure peace and stability within the union, pending a formal election of a New EXCO, adding that the council is committed to maintaining a conducive environment for all members and stakeholders.
The statement also said that a Caretaker Committee has been appointed to oversee the affairs of the union.
The Caretaker Committee will comprise:
- MR. FEMI O. PETERS – CHAIRMAN.
- MR. VICTOR AKINGBOYE – VICE CHAIRMAN.
- MR. FELIX BROWN – SECRETARY
- OPUDAYE EFEREBO – ASSISTANT SECRETARY
- MISS.ROSE GEORGE – TREASURER
- MR. TONYE IGBA – FINANCIAL SECRETARY
- MR. FRANK OSUBO – AUDITOR
- CHIEF BOMA OTOBO – ADVISER.
Who will work together to ensure the smooth operation of the union.
She urged all members of the Maritime Workers Union of Abonnema to cooperate with the newly appointed Caretaker Committee and support their efforts to maintain peace and stability within the union.
