Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has insisted that the Federal High Court judgment ordering her reinstatement is a binding directive, not a mere advisory opinion.
In a letter dated July 14, 2025, and titled “Rejoinder,” Akpoti-Uduaghan, through her lead counsel, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Michael Jonathan Numa, responded to a position by the Clerk of the National Assembly suggesting the court’s ruling was not enforceable.
The lawmaker maintained that the July 4, 2025 decision by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja is unequivocal and must be obeyed. The judge had ruled that the senator’s six-month suspension was excessive and unconstitutional, depriving her constituents of representation.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team strongly contested the National Assembly’s interpretation, reiterating that the judgment compels immediate compliance and reinstatement.
