The Leader of the Renewed Hope Agenda in Rivers State, Desmond Akawor, has alleged that Governor Siminalayi Fubara refused to release the state-owned stadium for a planned rally by the group.
Akawor made the allegation on Wednesday in Port Harcourt during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in the state.
According to him, the group had initially planned to hold the event at the stadium but was forced to use an alternative venue due to the government’s refusal to grant access to the facility. He apologized to supporters and attendees for what he described as the harsh environment, expressing regret over the inconvenience caused.
Despite the setback, Akawor commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda. He assured that members of the Renewed Hope family in Rivers State remain steadfast in their support for the President.
He also praised President Tinubu and Wike for what he described as the inclusion of Rivers indigenes in key appointments at the federal level, noting that the development reflects recognition of the state’s contributions at the national level.
