The Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State, Mr. Goodluck Iheanachor, has denied reports that he has resigned from office, dismissing a letter making the rounds on social media as fake.
In an interview with our correspondent on Friday, Iheamnachor maintained that he remains the substantive administrator of the council. He urged the public to disregard a purported resignation letter bearing his name and signature, which was dated June 20, 2025, and addressed to the state’s Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas. The letter claimed Iheamnachor was stepping down to return to the private sector.
Iheamnachor also alleged that he was recently attacked in his office by unidentified hoodlums, during which his personal belongings were carted away. He suggested the fake resignation letter may have emerged in the aftermath of the incident.
However, in a separate interview, Mr. Hector Ekeakita, who identified himself as the Chief Security Officer of the council, insisted that Iheamnachor had voluntarily resigned. He dismissed the administrator’s claim of being attacked, stating that a group of aggrieved youths from the area had merely confronted him over alleged mismanagement of council funds. According to Ekeakita, the confrontation led to a scuffle that eventually pressured Iheamnachor to relinquish his position.
As of the time of this report, the Rivers State Government has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
