Governor, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says people of the state punished former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi with their votes for bringing up the issue of abandoned property.
Wike, in a chat with Journalists Today berated Amaechi for bringing up such sensitive issue having failed to address it while he was governor of the state for eight years.
He said the divisive style of Amaechi’s politics contributed to the collapse of APC in the state, as he took 60 percent of his members while Magnus Abe took 20 percent.
He alleged that Amaechi as governor rejected the proposal to build a law school and an industrial Court in the state, which he has since built.
According to him, with his performance in office and the collapse of the opposition party, there was no way the APC could have defeated the PDP.
He also said Abe stood no chance with the SDP – a new party he brought to the state five months to election, noting that there was no SDP in Rivers.
He took a swipe at Sobomabo Jackrich, the NRM guber candidate labelling him a militant who was granted amnesty.
