Some pensioners in Rivers State are currently protesting at the State Secretariat in Port Harcourt, over the failure of government to pay their allowances and gratuities
The pensioners, were seen carrying placards with inscriptions like, “Wike please pay us, we are dying.”
Chairman of the South South Youth Initiative, Saviour Imeabe in a statement during the protest said, youths of the state are next in line.
According to him, the group will mobilize Rivers youths to protest against the state government over its failure to generate employment.
He stated that they are demanding over 60,000 jobs for youths of the state from the current administration, amongst other things.
Meanwhile, the State Head of Service, Rufus Godwins had in a statement said the government is not owing any pensioner in the state.
