More individual and private sector donations have been made as contributions to the ongoing efforts to combat the dreaded Coronavirus. Billionaire businessman- Mike Adenuga announced a N1.5bn donation. The telecoms industry mogul also revealed the money will be shared between the federal government and the Lagos State government.
Similarly, the United Bank for Africa (UBA) via its chief executive; Tony Elumelu made a $14m donation, while ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar donated $135,000 as relief funds.
Other private sector donations includeEmmanuel Lazarus (N2bn), Aliko Dangote (N1bn), Access bank (N1bn), Zenith bank (N1bn) and Guarantee Trust bank (N1bn).
However, some Nigerians on some social media platforms have ventilated their misgivings on the ability of the federal government to properly utilize these funds.
