The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared its readiness to contest and win the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State, insisting that it remains the only credible opposition party in the country.
Speaking in an interview, State chairman of the party, Leader Sampson, said the ADC is working to position itself as an alternative to what it described as “tyrannical leadership.” He explained that while the party wishes the current administration success, any failure to deliver good governance would serve as an opportunity for ADC to present itself as a rescue option for the people.
According to him, “Although we don’t pray for crisis in the state, we pray for good governance, especially for the governor to succeed in his four years. But if the governor chooses to abandon the Rivers people by refusing to provide the dividends of democracy, then it is an advantage to the ADC. We are doing everything possible to rescue the state from the hands of these tyrants.”
He further stressed that the ADC is not only gaining ground in Rivers State but also across Nigeria, positioning itself as the main opposition party. “It is not just in Rivers State; in all parts of the country right now, ADC is the main opposition party Nigerians have. We all know that PDP is dead already, so ADC is the only credible opposition in the country,” he said.
While declining to provide statistics on the party’s current strength in Rivers, the ADC chieftain expressed confidence that the party is growing daily and would take over the Government House in 2027.
