A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has set April 3 to 5 for the election of new members into the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement released on Sunday, the faction announced that party officials at the ward, local government area (LGA), state, and national levels will be chosen through a consensus arrangement.
According to the timetable for activities leading to the national convention, ward congresses are slated for March 19, LGA congresses for March 24, and state congresses for March 28.
The group explained that adopting a consensus method is aimed at strengthening unity, inclusiveness, and internal harmony within the party.
“This decision aligns with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended), and reflects our commitment to fostering unity, cohesion, and inclusiveness,” the statement said.
It added that the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT) and NWC believe the consensus approach will encourage cooperation, mutual understanding, and collective leadership, thereby enhancing the party’s ability to achieve its objectives.
The faction also disclosed that a membership registration exercise for new entrants has commenced and will run from March 14 to 25.
Prospective members are expected to register at their ward offices and obtain membership cards through the party’s Continuous Membership Registration Committee (CMRC).
The party clarified that the exercise is only for new members, noting that existing members are not required to renew their membership at this time.
