The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the Federal Government following the reported killing of about 170 people in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the incident as evidence of worsening insecurity in the country.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said the large-scale attack highlights what it called a major breakdown in security under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The ADC argued that the incident shows current strategies to address insecurity are not yielding results. It also raised concerns over the president’s November 2025 declaration of a state of emergency on security and the earlier pledge to recruit thousands of police officers, asking what impact those measures have made.
According to the party, the persistence of deadly attacks suggests that the announced security interventions have either failed or were not properly carried out.
The statement added that the ADC condemns in the strongest terms the killing of innocent residents in Kaiama LGA and called for urgent and effective action to prevent further loss of lives.
