Workers of the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas were locked out of their Port Harcourt head office along Amadi Ama today following a protest by Fishermen and some concerned people of Ogu Bolo
Travellers faring through the NLNG Jetty to Bonny were also trapped and could not embark on their journey following the protest
The protesters were accusing the NLNG of doing nothing since a vessel belonging to them sank boats belonging to fishermen and destroyed their fishing nets along the NLNG sea route resulting to the death of late precious Imabibo on the 20th Jan 2024
Leader of the protesters Samuel Diamond in an interview said since the incident, the company has done nothing to come to the respite of those who suffered losses Meanwhile the company has said relevant stakeholders are being engaged towards an amicable resolution of the issue
The general manager external relations of the NLNG Andy Oreh in a statement said the Company places a premium on the safety and care of its people and host communities, and calls for calm while awaiting the outcome of the Nigerian Police probe into the matter.
