An Abuja High Court has struck out the federal government’s criminal charges against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan following the filing of a Notice of Discontinuance by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (OAGF).
The charges stemmed from petitions submitted by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, over comments made by the senator during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme hosted by Seun Okinbaloye.
During the interview, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan had alleged that Akpabio and Bello were involved in a plot to eliminate her, prompting the petitions and subsequent legal action by the federal government.
At proceedings on the matter, the court upheld the Notice of Discontinuance filed by the OAGF and accordingly struck out the charges, bringing the case to an end.
