Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to arrest Julius Abure for alleged impersonation, following reports of his suspension by a faction of the Labour Party (LP).
In a statement issued Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti dismissed the suspension as a baseless move and described it as a “joke taken too far” and an “affront to democracy.”
The governor referenced a Supreme Court ruling which, he said, affirmed that Abure is no longer the National Chairman of the Labour Party. He also noted that the Nenadi Usman-led Caretaker Committee has stripped Abure of the authority to speak or act on behalf of the party.
