The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, has donated N18 million to the Enugu State Government to aid victims of the January 25 petrol tanker explosion at Ugwu Onyeama, which claimed multiple lives and left several others injured.
The donation was presented on Tuesday by a delegation led by Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, alongside members of the Enugu State Caucus in the House of Representatives. The lawmakers described the incident as a national tragedy and lauded Governor Peter Mbah for his prompt intervention and support to affected families.
Speaking on behalf of the Speaker, Hon. Nnaji said the donation reflected the House’s solidarity with the people of Enugu during this difficult time. “The House of Representatives recognizes the gravity of this loss and will continue to support Enugu State in its recovery efforts,” he stated.
Governor Mbah, while receiving the cheque, expressed appreciation for the support and assured that the funds would be distributed transparently to those impacted by the disaster.
