The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says its team of lawyers will return to the Federal High Court in Abuja today to seek the dismissal of an Ex Parte motion filed by Mr Nafiu Bala Gombe, citing the court’s lack of jurisdiction under Section 83(5) of the Electoral Act 2026.
Barring any last-minute changes, the legal team will appear before Honorable Justice Emeka Nwite to argue against what the party describes as a frivolous attempt to undermine its operations.
The ADC recalled that similar suits were previously dismissed by two Federal High Court Justices with corresponding jurisdiction. On October 3, 2025, and March 6, 2026, Justices James Omotosho and Joyce Abdulmalik dismissed a case filed by Dumebi Kachikwu against the leadership of the Senator David Mark-led ADC.
In a statement, the party prayed for divine guidance for Honorable Justice Nwite, asking that he be empowered with wisdom to deliver a just ruling.
According to the party, intelligence from credible sources in Abuja indicates that Justice Nwite is reportedly facing pressure from senior officials of the Bola Tinubu administration to destabilize the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections, raising concerns about efforts to create a de facto one-party state.
