The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a committed supporter of President Bola Tinubu, despite not being a member of the ruling party.
Basiru said Wike is being actively engaged in efforts to resolve the lingering political crisis in Rivers State, noting that his support for President Tinubu remains clear and consistent.
Responding to questions on whether the former Rivers State governor is still at odds with APC leadership following recent calls for his resignation as FCT minister, Basiru dismissed claims of any internal rift.“Nobody is in the bad books of the APC,” the party scribe said.
He explained that while statements were exchanged between him and the minister in the past, the matter did not escalate.“Statements were made by the Honourable Minister, and I made my own statement as the National Secretary. Graciously, he did not respond to my statements,” Basiru added.
His remarks appear to signal a de-escalation of tensions and reaffirm the party’s stance that Wike remains a key political ally of President Tinubu, particularly in ongoing efforts to stabilise the political situation in Rivers State.
