The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Hon. Dr. Benibo Fredrick Anabraba, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Dr. Anabraba announced his decision in a resignation letter dated January 5, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 1 in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State. The letter was submitted through the party’s ward office located at Bob-Manuel’s Compound in Abonnema.
In the letter, the Rivers SSG explained that his decision to withdraw from the PDP was a personal one, taken after careful consideration. He emphasized that the move was not influenced by external pressure.
Dr. Anabraba also expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities and political exposure he enjoyed during his time as a member of the party.
His resignation is viewed as a notable political development, considering his current role as Secretary to the State Government under Governor Siminalayi Fubara, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.
