The Federal University of Technology, Ogoni (FUTO), Rivers State, has announced that it will resume academic activities on January 12, 2026.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Chinedu Mmom, disclosed this during the 2026 Ogoni Day celebration held in Khana Local Government Area of the state.
Professor Mmom revealed that the institution has admitted a total of 1,486 students across six faculties, noting that the university is fully prepared to commence academic work. He emphasized the university’s readiness to partner with the Ogoni people in driving development at both the local and national levels.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the Ogoni people of the institution’s support, calling for patience as the university continues to put necessary structures in place. He also stated that the Ogoni people would be adequately carried along in the recruitment of staff.
Commending the people of Ogoni for the prevailing unity in the area, Professor Mmom stressed that no society or nation can achieve meaningful development in an atmosphere of chaos.
