Former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, has dismissed reports suggesting that he plans to resign from the Fubara political group and align with former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
In a public notice issued on Saturday, Ihunwo described the report, allegedly published by an online blog known as Inside Port Harcourt, as false, misleading, and malicious.
He stated categorically that he has neither resigned from the Fubara Group nor does he have any intention of doing so, stressing that he has no discussions, plans, or arrangements to collaborate with the individuals mentioned in the publication.
“I remain firm, resolute, and unwavering in my political stance,” Ihunwo said, reaffirming his full support and allegiance to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. He added that he remains committed to the ideals of good governance, unity, and development as championed by the current administration.
The former council chairman condemned what he described as irresponsible journalism, noting that the report was designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary political distractions.
He urged members of the public to disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through his official and verified channels.
Ihunwo also warned the purveyors of the alleged falsehood to desist from spreading misinformation, stating that he reserves the right to pursue all lawful means to protect his integrity and reputation.
