The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Sir Chidi Lloyd, has launched the distribution of 300 free NECO registration forms for eligible candidates across the council area as part of his administration’s Greater Emolga Continuity and Consolidation Agenda.
Bright Jossy-Elendu, Special Adviser to the Chairman on Information & Strategic Communication, disclosed this in a statement.
According to him, the initiative, flagged off on Monday at the council’s ICT Centre, is designed to support senior secondary school students and private candidates preparing for the 2025/2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).
He said, the free forms and registration support are aimed at encouraging continuous education and easing financial burdens on families. He said the scheme targets SS3 students as well as non-students seeking senior school certification for post-secondary admission.
The chairman urged parents to take advantage of the programme, noting that the 2025/2026 SSCE is expected to be the last manual examination before NECO transitions fully to computer-based testing from the 2026/2027 session.
He also announced that the online registration for all beneficiaries would be handled free of charge by the council’s ICT department.
Lloyd directed councillors across the 14 wards to ensure a transparent and inclusive distribution process, adding that non-indigenes resident in the LGA who qualify for the exam must also be considered. He stressed that the selection must be free of political interference.
The event was attended by members of the Emohua Legislative Council led by Chief Hon. Love Nyenke, as well as the Secretary of the Local Government Council, Engr. Victor Benjami, and other appointed officials.
