The Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Chief Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku, has announced the constitution of a Bursary Committee to oversee the disbursement of bursary payments to Etche undergraduate students before the end of November 2025.
Hon. Njoku made this known on Thursday when he received the leadership of the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS National), led by its President, Comr. Victory Chijioke Amadi, during a courtesy visit to the Council Secretariat in Okehi.
He said the move underscores his administration’s commitment to promoting educational development and supporting the welfare of students across the local government.
“Education remains one of the strongest tools for empowerment, and we are determined to encourage every Etche student in higher institutions to succeed,” Hon. Njoku stated.
The council chairman commended the Union for its constructive engagement, describing students as key partners in driving sustainable development. He also assured NURSS of continued collaboration with his administration on education-friendly initiatives.
In his remarks, the NURSS National President, Comr. Victory Chijioke Amadi, congratulated Hon. Njoku on his victory as council chairman and lauded his proactive leadership, particularly his commitment to students’ welfare.
