The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Sir Chidi Lloyd, on Monday inaugurated the newly constituted Revenue Committee of the Council, with a charge to boost the council’s internally generated revenue.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony at the council secretariat, Sir Chidi Lloyd urged members of the committee to embark on a vigorous and transparent revenue drive across the local government area, ensuring that all taxable business operators meet their financial obligations in line with constitutional provisions.
Media Aide to the Chairman, Bright Jossy in a statement said the council boss warned that the committee must conduct its enforcement activities responsibly and avoid acts capable of bringing disrepute to the local government. He cautioned that any member found engaging in misconduct or sabotaging the administration’s efforts would face strict disciplinary action.
Sir Lloyd further vowed that the council would not hesitate to initiate legal action against tax evaders, regardless of their social or political standing, stressing that the era when companies and business operators undermined the authority of the local government was over.
“All taxes due to the local government council must be paid into the council’s designated account,” he stated.
