EMOHUA LGA CELEBRATES 2025 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD IN GRAND STYLE
— Lady Adanma Chidi-Lloyd Empowers Young Females with Skills, Starter Kits, and Personal Care Packages
Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State marked the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child in an inspiring and empowering fashion, as the wife of the council chairman, Lady Divine Adanma Chidi-Lloyd, organized a one-day skill acquisition training for young females across the area.
The event, held on Saturday at the council headquarters in Emohua, brought together 10 participants from each of the 14 wards, offering them practical training in various vocational skills, basic health education, and personal care. Participants also received free starter kits and personal care products to support their entrepreneurial journeys.
Breaking away from the usual fanfare associated with such celebrations, Lady Adanma Chidi-Lloyd assembled a team of professional instructors, health educators, and motivational speakers who equipped the girls with vital skills and life lessons. The initiative, she noted, was designed to empower young women with the capacity for self-employment and promote the administration’s human capital development agenda.
According to the Emolga First Lady, the project aligns with the “Greater Emolga Continuity and Consolidation” mantra of the administration of Sir Chidi Lloyd, the council chairman, and will be sustained periodically to reach more beneficiaries across the local government area.
The training covered a range of vocational fields, including makeup artistry, soap production, pedicure and manicure, hair styling, and massage therapy, among others. At the close of the event, participants received professional starter kits, personal care items, and educational materials.
Beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the council chairman and his wife for providing both free training and the materials needed to start their businesses, describing the initiative as a life-changing opportunity that would help them achieve self-reliance.
The event also featured motivational sessions on personal hygiene, education, and abstinence from social vices, with speakers emphasizing the importance of education for the girl child.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Vice Chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon. Mrs. Vivian Obiageri Amadi, elected female officers of the council, the Member representing Emohua Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Justina Emeji, and Mrs. Grace Emeka-Woke, wife of the Director-General of NOSDRA, among other prominent women leaders.
The 2025 International Day of the Girl Child celebration in Emohua LGA stands out as a model for grassroots empowerment, reflecting a new era of purpose-driven community leadership.
