The Federal Government of Nigeria, says it has started partial payment of Stipend to beneficiaries of the 774,000 Special Works Programme in the Country.

Minister of state for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo disclosed this in a tweet on his official Twitter handle on Sunday.

He said the delay was caused by some of the banks choosen by beneficiaries of the scheme.

The Minister, said after the release of funds by the Ministry of Finance, he directed a rigorous scrutiny of accounts of the participants before payments.

Keyamo said they discovered instances of accounts not matching BVNs, multiple accounts bearing a single BVN, non-existent BVNs, among others.

He also said because of their determination to eliminate fraud, he further directed the National Directorate of Employment, to write to the banks to clean up the anomalies before commencing payments.
