The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday, July 18, 2025, transferred custody of 29 containers suspected to contain illicit drugs to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The handover took place at the Onne Port in Rivers State, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking through Nigerian seaports.
Customs authorities said the containers were intercepted during routine inspections, prompting immediate collaboration with NAFDAC for further investigation. The agency is expected to conduct detailed analysis to confirm the nature and origin of the suspected substances.
