The Rivers State Civil Service Union has issued a warning of a possible protest over the non-payment of June salaries to government workers.
The Chairman of the Union, Chuks Osuma, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that a planned protest scheduled for Wednesday was temporarily suspended. He explained that the decision was made to allow the Union’s National Executive Council to convene and decide the next steps.
Osuma expressed frustration over the continued delay in salary payments without any official explanation from the government, saying workers across the state are growing increasingly agitated.
He added that the Union will not hesitate to mobilize workers for industrial action if the issue is not urgently addressed.
The Sole Administrator has yet to respond to the allegations or provide any update on the status of salary disbursements.
