The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Nigeria Agip Exploration (NAE) have awarded fully funded postgraduate scholarships to 30 young Nigerians under their Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Postgraduate Scholarship Award Scheme.
The awards were presented at a brief ceremony in Abuja on Friday by NNPC Ltd.’s Chief Upstream Investment Officer, Oluwaseyi Omotowa, represented by the Deputy Manager, External Relations, NUIMS, alongside the Managing Director of NAE, Mr. Fabrizio Bolondi.
The scheme, instituted in 2004 by NNPC and ENI, NAE’s parent company, provides scholarships for one-year Master’s programmes in disciplines such as Geosciences, Engineering, and Petroleum Economics. This year’s awards include 10 overseas scholarships worth USD 50,000 each, and 20 local scholarships valued at ₦5 million each for postgraduate students in Nigerian universities.
Omotowa and Bolondi charged the recipients to maximize the opportunity by pursuing their academic passions and contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth.
Since inception, the initiative has awarded more than 350 scholarships, with 116 beneficiaries studying abroad and 255 pursuing postgraduate programmes in Nigerian institutions. NNPC Ltd. says the scheme reflects its ongoing commitment, through joint venture and PSC operations, to investing in Nigerian talent and communities.
