TEXT: MARK 5:21-34
MEMORY VERSE:“Jesus said to her, “My daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your trouble.” Mark 5:34GV
Our belief in Jesus is not only that He is the Son of God, but also in the truth, that He has the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient power of God in Him. The consciousness of this truth makes one have absolute regard for Christ. This regard is what makes man resolute in his reliance on the Lord. This is the point we want to make in our study today.
In His earthly ministry, Jesus lived a worthy life that attracted the large crowd wherever He went. He was not a political figure but the power of God was made manifest in Him such that people could follow Him and cast their physical and spiritual burdens on Him. In our service to God, we have to package our lives in such a way that people will find us worthy of followership. In verses 21 and 22 of our text, we read, “Jesus went back to the other side of the lake. There at the lakeside a large crowd gathered around him.”
In our relationship with the Lord, we must show the firm belief that if it is not possible for the Lord, then nobody can do it. This is one way we can attract the release of the power of God in our favour. In verses 22-24 of our text, we read of the example of Jairus thus: “….when he saw Jesus, he threw himself down at his feet and begged him earnestly, my little daughter is very sick. Please come and place your hands on her, so that she will get well and live. Then Jesus started off with him….”
You have to conclude the outcome before you take the step. No matter how hopeless the situation may be and how long or how much resources have been spent in the course of seeking solution, know that the very day you decide to totally hand it over to Jesus, that will be the day of your miracle. In verses 27-29 of our text, we read of the woman with the issue of blood thus: “She had heard about Jesus, so she came in the crowd behind him, saying to herself, “If I just touch his clothes I will get well. She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed.”
Actually, the expression of faith in Christ moves spiritually to release the miracle. Your faith is the hand that puts on the tap of your miracle. It does not happen by chance. The woman by her belief and highest regard for the power of God in Christ caused power to flow from Jesus, even when the Lord’s attention was not focused on her. In verse 30, we read thus: “At once Jesus knew that power had gone out of him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?
Today, Jesus sits on the throne of God in heaven. Such faith can still tap power from Him. Jesus has also raised servants with the fullness of the power of God. The Lord releases His power through them to satisfy those who regard them as servants of God (See Eph. 4:11, 12).
CHALLENGES: Can the power of God flow in your favour when you do not have regard for the Lord and His servants?
22 May ESOCS Devotional – PRAYER POINT: Lord, I rely on you alone for the solution I need, in Jesus name! Amen.
